What is the Hunger Strike Force?
The Hunger Strike Force (HSF) is a national benevolent outreach of Operation Blessing, a humanitarian relief organization based in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Utilizing its fleet of tractor-trailers, the Hunger Strike Force annually transports millions of pounds of donated food, clothing, medical supplies, disaster relief supplies and building supplies throughout the United States. The Hunger Strike Force's fleet of trucks picks up donated items from growers, food processing companies and manufacturers, in turn delivering these resources to both disadvantaged families and disaster victims.
Food Distribution
In addition to its weekly food deliveries across the country, HSF hosts community-wide food distribution events in partnership with national corporations, local businesses and volunteer networks. These special events take place in at-risk communities and often involve professional sports teams. Each adult guest receives two bags of groceries. There are also special programs and bagged items for children.
History
Established in 1992, the Hunger Strike Force's first three trucks began collecting farm produce and delivering it to impoverished families on the East Coast. Since February 1995, Hunger Strike Force trucks have been positioned in both the eastern and western sectors of the United States. Our strategically located warehouses and distribution centers make it possible to acquire and distribute a variety of donated food and relief supplies expeditiously to individual families all around the country.
Donations
The Hunger Strike Force has its own fleet of refrigerated tractor-trailer trucks that are utilized in picking up product directly from donors and expeditiously delivering it to hunger relief organizations. Donations are frequently delivered to our main distribution centers in Chesapeake, Virginia and Riverside, California for reconfiguration of products.
